When Western Star Trucks established their new complex in Brisbane's
Western Suburbs, they opted for a flat floor service area with no
pits. Capable of servicing 13 vehicles at a time, service manager,
Mr Bill Dickson realised that the above ground servicing offerred
the most efficient and safest servicing and repair option available.
"Quicker and safer for our people....
Its the ease of handling the big jobs where Portalift really stands
out. For example, removing a gearbox or diff becomes a much simpler
operation. We can adjust the height and angle of the hoist rather
than the component being fitted or removed. This makes the operation
an easier, quicker and safer process for all our people."
"Multi-vehicle lift....
Portalift stands are used constantly around the workshop. If there
is a need to leave a job for an extended period, the stands are
used and the hoists moved to another job. The ability to lift more
than one vehicle with the Portalift system means Western Star can
move the job through the workshop with minimum delay."
"My years of experience with pits have convinced me that Portalift
hoists offer a quicler turnaround and a safer and cleaner working
environment for our service people.
We service a large range of vehicles including B-doubles and there
is no doubt Portalift Mobile hoists were the right choice. With
a combination of 2 sets of Portalifts, Portalift vehicle stands
and a 4 post platform hoist, 5 vehicles can be worked on at any
one time."
